Mid-Hurricane Season Prediction

Palm trees blowing during a big storm

Before the Hurricane season began, the authorities told us how it would be a more intense hurricane season than normal. We’re two months into the season and the professionals have altered their original forecast. They expect near 20 names storms, with 11 or so likely to be hurricanes with 5 major hurricanes.

So far, we have had 4 named Storms:

Alberto reached a category 5 out in the ocean but dropped to a 1 by the time it hit Mexico

Berryl and Chris Fizzled out as a Tropical Storm

Debby just dumped a lot of rain up the Eastern seaboard

That leaves 4 or 5 major hurricanes left… 8 or so hurricanes and 16 more named storms. The season lasts until the end of November but traditionally it’s all over by the end of September. We average one October storm a year and one November storm every 3 years. That means the rest of August and September could be rough, so stay prepared!
